Troy State Fort Benning (GA) has the most incompetent staff I have ever encountered. I've had multiple issues from enrolling, to financial aid, to missing paper work, etc. If you choose to attend here, please note you better keep up with your own financial aid. And I mean every penny. If you enroll during the summer they will not process loans for you- you must pay out of pocket. Which is a joke imo considering a lot of people want to attend school over the summer. Second, they don't tell you when you've maxed out of loans. I enrolled in school and was told I was maxed out even though I haven't even gone over $50k. I had to apply for an immediate private loan to help cover tuition. Their financial aid office is the most ridiculous process I have ever been through! That alone would make me want to switch schools if I wasn't so close to completing my degree. Your counselors are useless. They have so many students to keep up with that they constantly give bad info. Last term I was given a sheet which showed I had 5 classes left and this semester I am told I have 11 classes left. What changed in 4 months? The staff here is so nonchalant about things. They show no compassion for helping you in urgent situations. Once I was told to personally go to an office to speak to a staff member. I showed up, the door was locked. I knocked & knocked, waited, nothing. 2 other students came, same thing. The janitor saw us & unlocked the door- low & behold the Troy employee was inside, acting as if she heard nothing. I was disgusted! Some of the professors are good- but there are quite a few who are useless. As in one term I had a professor for an online course who posted absolutely NO WORK. Troy is all about the dollar. Why is it that every term , every class there are all new books? We can't sell our books to other classmates bc they constantly change! The bookstores won't give us any decent money back for them either. It's is unbelievable what a cash cow this school is. I DO NOT recommend this school at all. Maybe going to the actual school located in Troy might make a difference- but if you plan to attend Ft Benning, Columbus, or Phenix City, think again. This school has been a nightmare to deal with. Worst mistake ever.
